First Quarter Completed

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 11:28 PM
I have one more class session to attend to complete my first quarter at ITT Tech. It was a little frustrating as two of the three classes were not truly centered on CAD. They were reasonably related to the career of being a CAD person. That is one of the advantages of ITT Tech over a regular college; the general credit courses are applicable to your end goal. If I were attending a regular college, I would have to study things like History or (shudder) Political Science. So I shan't complain much more.

Now I get to study (review) actual drafting principles; probably still on paper with a pencil but at least now I have an actual drafting table instead of a beat-up card table. I was trying to do a two-point perspective drawing and the drawing itself was as big as the card table... and my vanishing points needed to be about a foot off each side of the table. And I was beginning to train our kitty to not get up on my work... Of course as you know, kitties cannot be trained. They know that it's their house and they just keep humans around as maintenance workers... and let them pay the rent too.

My one class that will be general credit this upcoming quarter is Pre-Calculus. I am honestly very excited / happy / relieved that I finally get to study some higher mathematics than where I left off in 1975. I have always noted the lack of understanding that I have had as I have studied my quantum cosmology and had to pass on any math involved. Yet I still have the nerve to refute Hawking and Bekenstein for their teachings in particular about black holes.

The secret fear that I have is that my oh-so-great theory of time-systems will turn out to be wrong because I muked up the math. My aces in the hole though are rather bullet-proof and give me courage: none of my theories are refuted by existing evidence and I only refute others' ideas; ideas that have not been directly observed to be true. So it's a stand-off at this time.

If anything that I create in my schoolwork is worth posting, I will do so. I do have a 8.5 by 11.? inch scanner that is yet another hand-me-down from my fantastic son-in-law... you know, the one who bought me a car when I couldn't muster the chutzpah to rebuild the engine in my wife's turbo Subaru in the parking lot of our apartment complex.

Speaking of that car, it's on Google Maps... along with several million other cars... and you can barely tell that it's a car.

Well now I am meandering and probably boring you to death, so I'll say, "Ciao" and look for something of mine to post here.

Fortunate you are to have family and friends.

There are those who do not know such things and those who never will.
